Job summary

Ciena Government Solutions Inc. (CGSI) is seeking a Network Solutions Engineer to provide onsite support for a key customer at Scott AFB, IL.

You will lead design, test planning, and deployment activities to ensure seamless interoperability of Ciena products within the customer network and serve as the local SME on standards and modernization efforts. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will collaborate with Project and Sales teams, perform end-to-end testing, and deliver comprehensive

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required and Active security clearance is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• 10+ years of telecom experience with lab/field expertise.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide support for network architecture design and implementation.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate equipment functionality, interoperability, security, and performance.
• Translate test results into actionable implementation plans and provide expert engineering support during deployment (Layer-0 to Layer-2).
• Perform pre-commissioning activities in labs, including BOM validation and initial commissioning.
• Support greenfield network implementation by commissioning equipment and optimizing parameters.
• Turn up network services following best practices and conduct end-to-end circuit testing.
• Provide customer training on NMS tools, including enrollment, device profiles, backups, and provisioning.
• Escalate and resolve issues with Ciena platforms per procedures.
• Analyze optical performance with internal teams and document configuration and testing results.
