Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a Senior Patient Services Specialist to support clinic coordination and patient orientation for the Swedish Cancer Institute across multiple campuses. You will schedule new patients, follow-up appointments, requested tests, and obtain insurance verifications and authorizations while maintaining accurate medical records.

Qualifications

• Oncology administrative training within six months
• Medical Terminology Certification or course within 6 months (180 days)
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Experience obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations
• Associate’s Degree Emphasis in Health Care or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in healthcare

Responsibilities

• Schedule new patients, follow-up clinic appointments and requested diagnostic tests
• Acquire insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations and reconcile billing issues
• Prepare and maintain the patient’s medical record and triage incoming calls
• Answer multiple phone lines with excellent communication and problem solving around patient care
• Provide orientation and training support for new staff and partners in the clinic
• Assist with special project assignments to optimize oncology patient experience (AIDET Level II)

Education

Associate’s Degree or equivalent in healthcare
