Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide patient care in the Moores Cancer Center Infusion Center and related infusion locations. The role emphasizes administration of antineoplastic therapies, toxicity management, and coordination with attending oncologists in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.
• National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
• Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire date.
• Two or more years of recent work experience as a licensed NP in hematology oncology, oncology infusion, or non-oncology infusion.
• Demonstrated ability to perform history and physical examination and formulate appropriate plans of action.
• Knowledge of tests, exams, and procedures used in a clinic setting.
• Understanding of supplies and equipment to maintain infection control and accurate charting.
• Advanced clinical judgment and critical thinking in an oncologic outpatient setting.
• Ability to independently manage patients in a fast-paced setting with escalation of care.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary care.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with professionalism, empathy, and kindness.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Infusion Center for oncology patients.
• Deliver Same-Day Cancer Services for established oncology patients.
• Collaborate with attending oncologists and care team; educate patients and families.
• Demonstrate knowledge of solid and hematological cancers and management of treatments.
• Support coverage for multiple infusion locations and occasional other centers.
