Job summary

Exelixis is seeking a Senior Medical Director to lead and execute oncology trials across early and late stages, in collaboration with clinical teams. The role includes designing protocols, medical monitoring, data interpretation, and regulatory reporting to FDA, with emphasis on safety and scientific rigor.

The position requires an MD with oncology board eligibility and at least 8 years post-residency experience, plus strong cross-functional collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• MD with 8+ years post-residency in oncology or hematology/oncology desirable
• Hands-on experience in design, execution, medical monitoring and reporting of oncology trials
• Experience in drug development in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry; knowledge of GMP/GCP

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute oncology clinical trials across early and late stages
• Act as medical monitor for sponsor-led trials, assess eligibility and safety events
• Coordinate reporting to FDA and ensure protocol adherence and safety monitoring
• Collaborate with safety groups to analyze trial data and prepare regulatory reports
• Interact with key opinion leaders and investigators to advance development strategies
• Maintain up-to-date scientific knowledge and cross-functional alignment across programs
