Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking an experienced software engineer to own the onboard live-map estimator end to end. You will fuse HD map priors with live perception into a real-time world estimate used by the planner across vehicle programs.

You'll build map change detection, define trust contracts, and develop evaluation pipelines to prevent regressions while shipping robust estimation code in C++ for embedded compute. This role emphasizes ownership and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software with at least one shipped system owning the estimation core.
• State estimation fundamentals proven in production: factor graphs and/or filtering, data association, uncertainty propagation.
• Experience fusing heterogeneous sources into a single world estimate with good error characterization.
• Strong modern C++ and ability to meet real-time budgets on embedded compute.
• Rigorous evaluation practice with ground-truth or metrics pipelines to prevent regressions.
• Judgment about uncertainty and safety-focused design.
• Experience defining system interfaces and negotiating contracts with consumer teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the onboard live-map estimator end to end, fusing map priors with live perception into a real-time world estimate.
• Build onboard map change detection and define when the planner should stop trusting the map.
• Define map trust contracts and operating points for multiple vehicle programs.
• Build evaluation backbone, ground-truth and metrics pipelines, and regression testing.
• Ship estimation code in modern C++ that meets real-time budgets on embedded hardware.
• Extend the loop offboard over time by aggregating divergence detections into correction pipelines.
