Senior OnBase Developer (Legacy System Migration)Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced OnBase Developer to join our Enterprise Content Management (ECM) team. In this role, you will lead the technical analysis, extraction, and migration efforts from a legacy Hyland OnBase platform into a modernized target ecosystem featuring OpenText, Camunda, and Microsoft SharePoint.

The ideal candidate possesses deep hands‑on expertise in OnBase architecture, data structures, and APIs, alongside practical experience executing data and document migration strategies to cloud‑based or modern ECM platforms.

Project Overview

Our organization is undertaking a strategic digital transformation initiative to decommission our legacy OnBase environment. The project involves analyzing existing OnBase workflows, document types, keywords, and storage volumes, and architecting seamless migration pipelines to:

• OpenText / SharePoint: Core repository management, document taxonomy, and metadata mapping.
• Camunda: Process orchestration, business rule transition, and automated workflow replacement.

Key ResponsibilitiesMigration Architecture & Analysis

• Conduct comprehensive discovery on the legacy OnBase environment, analyzing existing Document Types, Keywords, WorkView applications, AutoFoldering, and Workflow configurations.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects and business stakeholders to map OnBase metadata, security models, and document structures to OpenText, SharePoint, and Camunda formats.
• Design and execute end‑to‑end extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) routines to migrate high‑volume document stores and historical data with zero data loss.

Hands‑On OnBase Development & Extraction

• Develop custom scripts, C# API routines, or OnBase Unity API extensions to extract documents, annotations, audit logs, and metadata out of the OnBase disk groups and databases.
• Identify and resolve complex data discrepancies, orphaned records, or corrupted files prior to and during the migration process.
• Configure data transformation pipelines to format extracted content for ingestion into OpenText repositories and SharePoint document libraries.

Process Mapping & Decommissioning

• Deconstruct complex OnBase Workflows and WorkView applications, translating business logic into Camunda BPMN models and process flows.
• Assist in establishing parallel testing, dual‑run strategies, and post‑migration validation to ensure system integrity and compliance.
• Document legacy system configurations, migration mappings, technical workflows, and final decommissioning procedures.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• OnBase Expertise: 5+ years of hands‑on experience developing, configuring, and maintaining Hyland OnBase platforms (Unity API, C# Scripting, OnBase Database Schema, WorkView, Workflow, Keyword Types).
• Migration Experience: Proven track record executing at least one large‑scale migration project moving off OnBase to a modern ECM platform.
• Database & Scripting Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL Server / Oracle, T‑SQL writing complex queries, data extraction scripts, and ETL procedures.
• API Development: Strong C# / .NET development skills, particularly using Unity API or REST APIs for OnBase content extraction.
• Target Platform Awareness: Solid understanding of document management practices in Microsoft SharePoint, OpenText Content Suite/xECM, and/or Camunda process automation frameworks.
• Data Integrity & Compliance: Experience with high‑volume document migration, data validation techniques, hash verification, and audit tracking.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Certifications: Active or past Hyland certifications (OCA, OCWA, OCAPI) are a plus.
• Integration Experience: Experience working with REST/SOAP APIs, Middleware/MuleSoft, or Azure Data Factory.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience working within Scrum or Kanban environments.
