Job summary

Cox Automotive seeks a Mobile Inspector based in the Chicago area to join the Manheim Mobile Inspections team. You will conduct on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory, delivering accurate, detailed documentation aligned with Manheim inspection standards to support trust and inventory flow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED plus relevant experience in vehicle inspections or related field.
• Previous vehicle inspection experience required.
• Strong automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) required.
• 2-3 years automotive-related experience strongly preferred.
• 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections in accordance with Manheim inspection standards.
• Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer lots.
• Verify VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; ensure accurate system entry.
• Inspect exterior condition: tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components.
• Inspect interior condition: seating, dashboard, installed options.
• Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.
• Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features.
• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.
