Job summary

Generac is seeking a Senior Equipment & Automation Engineer to act as the on-site technical lead at a contract manufacturer facility. You will own automation lines and equipment performance, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive reliability improvements.

You will program PLCs and robots, develop validation procedures, and train CM staff while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across shifts. This role requires on-site work with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems on automated production equipment.
• Experience programming, configuring, and troubleshooting industrial PLC systems.
• Experience with robotics programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Track record of improving OEE and developing maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site automation and equipment engineering lead at the CM facility.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime during core hours and train CM maintenance teams.
• Lead root cause analysis and equipment upgrades for reliability and process capability.
• Program ladder logic and structured text across PLC platforms; program robots for complex multi-station machinery.
• Develop and improve equipment validation procedures, including calibration and qualification.
• Train CM technicians and provide hands-on support during extended downtime.
• Create and maintain preventive/predictive maintenance documentation and schedules.
• Collaborate with CM plant, production, quality, and Generac engineering to meet safety, quality, and throughput targets.
• Support FAT and SAT activities for capital equipment installations and upgrades.
• Champion safety practices and compliance with lockout/tagout and machine guarding.
• Coordinate spare parts analysis and inventory with CM’s Spares team.
