Job summary

Utilidata, Inc. is seeking a senior Application Engineer, Software to bridge the Karman platform with OEM hardware and software partners. You will adapt and integrate Karman’s embedded stack, work directly with partner engineers to define requirements, and troubleshoot integration issues.

This founding role offers influence over processes, tools, and standards as the Application Engineering function scales across OEMs, with emphasis on Linux BSP, drivers, and validation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years embedded OS and firmware development with customer-facing work.
• BS in CS/EE or equivalent training and on-the-job experience.
• Strong Linux BSP bring-up, driver development, and kernel debugging.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded development; Python or Rust for tooling.
• Experience designing integration validation tools and test automation.
• Experience across multiple OEM platforms and customer engagements.
• Excellent communication and ability to lead technical discussions.
• Nice-to-have: Yocto, RTOS, observability tools, gRPC/Protobuf.

Responsibilities

• Partner with OEM software/firmware teams to define integration points.
• Develop OS-level and firmware components to fit partner platforms.
• Use debugging/tracing tools to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Lead OEM-facing technical calls and design reviews.
• Own end-to-end execution for OEM software integrations.
• Design and validate test frameworks for OS and firmware installation.
• Debug installation failures and coordinate with internal teams.
• Create integration artifacts and KPI trackers.
• Track KPIs/risks across OEM engagements and drive resolutions.
• Automate test frameworks and deployment documentation with AI approaches.
• Participate in roadmap, design reviews, and sprint planning.
• Serve as feedback loop to core engineering for platform improvements.
• Build repeatable processes and best practices for scaling.
