Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Senior Application Engineer, Software/Firmware (Embedded Linux) for a fully remote role based in the United States. The engineer will bridge internal teams and OEM partners, owning software and firmware integration from design to deployment.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of embedded software experience, strong Linux BSP know-how, C/C++ and Python skills, and a track record of hardware/software integration across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on embedded software and firmware development experience.
• Strong embedded Linux experience including BSP bring-up and kernel-level debugging.
• Proficiency in C or C++ for embedded development and Python for automation.
• Experience with hardware/software integration across OEM or vendor environments.

Responsibilities

• Partner with OEM software and firmware teams to define integration solutions.
• Adapt and integrate embedded software stacks across hardware platforms.
• Develop OS-level and firmware components including BSPs and drivers.
• Debug complex issues using JTAG, GDB, tracing, and profiling tools.
• Lead design reviews and troubleshooting sessions with engineering partners.
• Own end-to-end software integration from kickoff to deployment.
• Build validation frameworks, test plans, and integration docs.
• Create automation tools to improve testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with core teams to translate partner feedback into product ideas.
