Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Ocean Marine Cargo to lead underwriting within the U.S. Ocean Marine Cargo portfolio, focusing on Small and Middle Market, Large Complex Transit, Stock Throughput, and Excess Stock Exposure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct Ocean Marine Cargo underwriting experience.
• Experience building and managing complex Ocean Cargo business.
• Strong understanding of logistics liability products preferred.
• Ability to build wholesale and retail broker relationships.
• Understanding of supply-chain exposures across cargo and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage complex Ocean Marine Cargo business, including Small and Middle Market, Large Complex Transit, Stock Throughput, and Excess Stock Exposure risks.
• Evaluate Marine Logistics opportunities that complement the Ocean Cargo portfolio, including Cargo Legal Liability, Warehouse Legal Liability, Errors & Omissions, Shipper’s Interest, and packaged logistics solutions.
• Assess supply-chain exposures involving freight forwarders, logistics providers, warehouse operators, transportation intermediaries, and other businesses involved in the movement, handling, and storage of goods.
• Review contractual and operational exposures to determine appropriate coverage structure, limits, retentions, pricing, terms, conditions, and endorsements.
• Work with brokers to identify cross-sell opportunities across Ocean Cargo and Logistics, and develop broader solutions for clients with complex supply-chain exposures.
• Prospect for new business and develop strategies targeting Small to Middle Market and Large Complex Corporate risks.
• Develop and maintain strong wholesale and retail broker relationships, using those relationships to generate submissions and expand the portfolio.
