Job summary

NJ TRANSIT is seeking a Senior Occupational Health & Safety Specialist to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of its health and safety programs across facilities in New Jersey and surrounding areas.

The role reports to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety and focuses on regulatory compliance, training, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvements to protect employees, customers, and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field with 3 years' experience.
• Experience in safety, health and/or environmental programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety programs.
• Coordinate responses to environmental and safety issues and recommend remedial actions.
• Provide training materials and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Perform risk assessments to identify hazards and implement controls.
• Review materials requests and identify safer alternatives to reduce risks.
• Update Right to Know surveys at NJT Rail and Surface Transit Operations and Maintenance facilities.
• Coordinate industrial hygiene equipment management to support Health unit operations.
• Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety.
