Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a diagnostic systems expert responsible for defining and integrating OBD coverage across vehicle sub-systems. You will work with software, hardware, manufacturing, service, quality and reliability teams to implement robust diagnostic solutions and verifiable requirements.

The role requires hands-on engineering experience with vehicle electrical architectures and diag protocols, plus strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Software).
• 8+ years in an engineering role; level negotiable based on experience.
• Experience with OBD II and diagnostic standards.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture and CAN/CANFD, ETH, LIN, UART, SENT.
• Experience with requirements and systems engineering, and E/E architecture.
• Hands-on with electromechanical vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Define diagnostic system coverage requirements from stakeholder inputs.
• Develop diagnostic monitoring strategies and architecture.
• Interface between domain software teams and diagnostic software, manufacturing, and service.
• Verify requirements and designs to ensure correct functionality.
• Organize feedback from manufacturing, service and engineering for improvements.
• Support technical integration at manufacturing plants for OBD.
• Deliver cross-program diagnostic support across Rivian and VWG Technologies platforms.
• Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned.
