Job summary

Waymo in Mountain View, CA, seeks a Senior Automotive NVH Engineer to define and implement the complete vehicle NVH strategy for the Waymo Driver platform, ensuring quiet, comfortable operation across chassis, powertrain mounts, tires and acoustics.

The role requires a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years in automotive NVH, deep acoustics knowledge, and hands-on experience with CAE tools (Nastran, Optistruct, Abaqus) and NVH testing (B&K, Simcenter Testlab, VIacoustics).

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years in automotive NVH engineering.
Deep knowledge of acoustics, vibration, modal analysis and sound quality metrics.
Expertise in NVH CAE tools (Nastran, Optistruct, Abaqus) and NVH measurement tools; experience with Hypermesh, SimLab and Ansa.
Proficiency with NVH testing equipment and software (B&K, Simcenter Testlab, VIacoustics).

Responsibilities

Full Vehicle NVH Architecture: Define and implement the complete vehicle NVH strategy from top-level requirements to component-level targets.
Design and Integration: Lead NVH strategy for integration of Self Driving System with base vehicle platform, influencing all related design aspects.
Simulation and Analysis: Use CAE tools to predict, analyze, and optimize NVH throughout development.
Testing and Validation: Plan and execute NVH tests in lab and on road; analyze results.
Technology leadership: Drive adoption of emerging NVH tech and root-cause analysis for robust countermeasures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with design teams and OEM partners to ensure NVH compatibility with other attributes.
