North Carolina State University’s Nuclear Engineering department in Raleigh seeks a Research Engineer to advance reactor system design, operation, and safety analyses. The role includes hands-on reactor operations training and developing experimental facilities.

You will work with high-performance computing resources to simulate reactor cores, contribute to publications and proposals, and assist in teaching and mentoring researchers and students.

Qualifications

• PhD in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field.
• Experience with reactor facilities and academic/proposal development.
• Strong background in reactor analyses and computational modeling.

Responsibilities

• Reactor operations and training to obtain NRC licensure.
• Design, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of reactor systems.
• Develop specifications and safety protocols for laboratory facilities.
• Formulate reactor core and system simulations using HPC resources.
• Design experimental facilities and conduct advanced research.
• Contribute to project documentation, papers, and proposals.
• Perform nuclear system analyses and data generation for safe operation.
