Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory's Advanced Test Reactor seeks an experienced pipefitter to perform layout, fit-up, and fabrication of piping systems per drawings, codes, and specifications. You will read blueprints, determine materials, and fabricate/install spools, supports, and hangers for new installations while ensuring precise alignment and clearance.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant work experience, or an approved trade apprenticeship with 2 years of experience, or a 2-year vocational program with 3 years of experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance (U.S. citizenship).
• Experience with exotic and specialty metals (stainless steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, etc.) and their handling, fit-up, and heat-treatment requirements.
• Must be able to complete required training and obtain Radiological Worker qualification.
• Valid state driver’s license for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Layout, fit-up, and fabrication of piping systems per drawings and codes (ASME B31.1, B31.3).
• Read blueprints, P&IDs, and isometrics to determine materials and layout.
• Fabricate and install pipe spools, supports, and hangers for new installations and modifications.
• Perform field measurements and ensure proper slope, alignment, and clearance.
• Conduct pressure testing, inspection, and quality checks on piping systems.
• Operate shop tools and equipment and maintain safety and housekeeping.
