Job summary

The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to support the Nuclear Medicine Program under supervision of the Manager of Medical Imaging. The role involves performing studies, operating imaging equipment, QA, and ensuring safety and accuracy in radiopharmaceutical handling.

The position emphasizes patient-centered care and collaboration with radiology physicians and cardiologists.

Qualifications

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Maintains current license to practice in the State of Rhode Island.
Nuclear Medicine ARRT or CNMT certification.
Supplemental CT Certification from Rhode Island.
Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
Ability to operate nuclear medicine equipment and related systems.
Analytical ability to calculate and prepare radiopharmaceuticals for procedures.
Ability to care for patients across the adult and geriatric lifespan.

Responsibilities

Schedules and performs patient studies as per procedure manual.
Operates gamma cameras, dose calibrator, well counter and related equipment.
Processes images and inputs data into PACS; verifies images for radiologist review.
Bills patients for supplies; applies correct codes and counts.
Performs daily QA on imaging and monitoring instruments.
Maintains radiation safety practices and performs test procedures.
Transports patients and conducts housekeeping duties as needed.
May train new staff and participate in department accreditation.
