Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to contribute to nuclear power projects, applying thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. You will prepare calculations, evaluate equipment sizing, and support system engineering across client engagements.

The role requires a BS(Me) from ABET-accredited program, 5+ years in nuclear power, and strong technical writing. Travel to client sites may be required; mentoring junior staff is included.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
  • Experience preparing calculations and reports with strong technical writing.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering design for nuclear power plants; understanding codes and regulations.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications; excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics in power plant engineering.
  • Prepare or review calculations, evaluations, and technical reports to support client recommendations.
  • Conduct equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection per client needs.
  • Support system engineering and analysis of nuclear power plant mechanical systems.
  • Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and status.
  • Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff on power plant engineering tasks.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification.
