Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 4 to support the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Tonopah, AZ. This onsite role requires leading mechanical engineering efforts from front-end design through construction support for mission-critical projects at a premier nuclear facility.

You will mentor engineers and designers, develop innovative designs, manage scope changes, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and vendors to ensure quality, safety, and on-time execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
• At least 6 years of direct experience in the EPCm industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a dynamic team of engineers and designers across multiple complex projects.
• Develop innovative conceptual mechanical designs evaluating constructability, performance, and lifecycle costs.
• Manage mechanical scope changes to meet budgets and schedules without compromising quality or compliance.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, and process engineers, construction managers, and vendors for seamless integration.
• Estimate staffing needs and develop detailed work plans and schedules.
• Review engineering drawings, calculations, and specs to ensure adherence to standards and budgets.
