Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer – Nuclear in the United States to join our nuclear group in Pittsburgh. You will help deliver I&C design deliverables for multi-disciplinary projects, participate in safety reviews, and mentor staff.

We value engineers with strong communication, planning, and technical skills, experienced in nuclear or thermal plants. Travel for short-term assignments domestically and internationally is expected.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc./B.Eng. in engineering from an accredited university.
  • PE license or EIT status preferred.
  • 7–10 years in instrumentation and control design for nuclear or thermal plants.
  • Strong communication and planning skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with qualification to ASME NQA‑1 and export controls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and support engineering work packages to meet budgets and schedules.
  • Define I&C project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Develop I&C deliverables: design criteria, controls narratives, P&IDs, I/O lists.
  • Create system architecture drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in safety reviews such as HAZOP/COMS.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines and vendors.
