Job summary

BlackCube Labs seeks a Nuclear Human Factors Engineer to apply HFE processes within nuclear plant environments, translating requirements into operator displays and controls for monitoring, control, and safety systems.

Responsibilities include validating human-system interfaces, contributing to procedures and operator training, and ensuring timely, high-quality engineering documentation in line with NRC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Human Factors Psychology, Applied Psychology, or equivalent 4-year degree in a technical discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of nuclear Human Factors experience.
• Experience with NRC Regulatory Guides and INPO Operator Training Guidelines.
• Experience with NRC Regulatory Guide 0711 or 0711 site implementation and reviews.
• Solid technical writing skills focusing on requirements, design, and description documents.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of the human factors engineering process.
• Apply knowledge of nuclear plant operations and nuclear regulatory processes.
• Determine the requirements for the displays, controls, and other job support aids needed to accomplish functions.
• Translate requirements into controls, displays, software and hardware for monitoring, control, and protection functions for various plant systems and operating modes.
• Review, test and validate human-system interfaces using a simulator and plant operating, surveillance, and emergency procedures.
• Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents.
• Support the development of normal, abnormal, emergency operating procedures, alarm response procedures, surveillance procedures and operator training programs.
• Support quality requirements, including participation in design reviews and the initiation of and responding to Corrective Actions.
• Provide on-time, quality delivery of engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Education

Registered Professional Engineer in the United States.

PPA Procedure Writer's Certification.
