Job summary

Parsons is seeking a senior nuclear engineer to join the Federal Solutions team in the United States. You will conduct research on materials for nuclear reactors and study radiation controls, contributing to safe, efficient fuel-cycle programs.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear or Mechanical engineering and twenty years of nuclear engineering experience, with familiarity in nuclear codes and engineering software. DOE-Q clearance is preferred; U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear or Mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of 20 years of nuclear engineering experience.
• Familiarity with nuclear codes and standards and common nuclear engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors.
• Conduct studies related to detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants.
• Study nuclear fuel cycle to define economical uses of material and safe waste disposal methods.
• Recommend technology options for safety, performance, efficiency or cost improvements.
• Develop planning documents and support design of engineering-scale facilities.
• Collaborate with agencies and industry to meet regulatory requirements for fuel cycle facilities.
• Provide engineering and technical support for construction, overhaul, testing, and operation of reactor components.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Develop and implement radiation safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct site visits and inspections for regulatory compliance.
