Job summary

General Matter is seeking a proactive Environmental Engineer to support design and licensing of nuclear fuel cycle facilities in the US. The role involves assessing environmental impacts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and reducing environmental footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of NRC, EPA, NEPA and other environmental regulations and standards.
• Experience with environmental modeling software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for regulatory documentation.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments and support Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Reports (ER) per NRC and NEPA.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate environmental considerations into facility layouts and processes.
• Develop strategies to minimize environmental impacts across air, water, soil and waste management.
• Prepare permit applications for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, NRC, and state environmental requirements.
• Conduct environmental monitoring and data analysis for compliance and improvements.
• Provide technical input during regulatory inspections, audits, and public hearings.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and their impact on design and licensing.
• Develop and deliver training on environmental policies and practices.
