Job summary

SAIC in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Principal Nuclear Detection System Engineer to support US Space Force initiatives. You will lead systems engineering and integration efforts for NDS ground and space systems, ensuring on-time delivery and mission readiness.

The role requires an active security clearance (Secret with TS willingness), 9+ years in DoD space/ground system life cycles, and hands-on experience with hardware-software integration, architecture definitions, and verification methods.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance or willingness to obtain TS clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 9+ years of experience; Master’s Degree with 7+ years is acceptable.
• Experience with systems development, integration & test throughout the lifecycle; DoD space and ground system development experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide Systems Engineering expertise with focus on Ground software development and verification.
• Support Ground System DT&E, OT&E and milestone reviews and design maturity assessments.
• Define requirements, allocate and refine architectures, and develop verification methodologies for operational acceptance.
• Maintain program baseline including Requirements Specification, ICDs, and SE processes.
• Perform mission analysis to define technical requirements and interfaces and evaluate against mission needs.
• Lead milestone readiness reviews to verify design meets criteria and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Government & contractor teams and communicate findings to leadership.
