Job summary

Applied Atomics is recruiting a Nuclear Engineer to own the technical development of our reactor core, fuel, and nuclear systems. You will define the nuclear architecture, lead early-stage reactor and fuel design, and interface with reactor-licensing partners.

You will tackle reactor physics, shielding, safety analyses, and model verification across a fast-paced hardware environment, with growth toward leading a world-class engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field (required).
  • 4+ years of nuclear engineering experience (or 2+ years with MS).
  • Experience with radiation transport and reactor physics modeling tools (OpenMC, MCNP, Serpent, SCALE).
  • Experience with reactor design, core physics, criticality, and shielding.
  • Basic understanding of thermal-hydraulics and coupled neutronics-thermal models.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, Creo).
  • Ability to operate across cross-functional teams; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Self-starter with ownership mindset to drive concepts to deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Own reactor physics, neutronics, shielding, and nuclear design from concept to deployment.
