Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Nuclear Engineer in Reston, Virginia to support critical national security missions. You will apply advanced nuclear engineering principles to counterproliferation and survivability design.

Responsibilities include reverse-engineering protective measures, conducting high-fidelity analyses, and modeling using MCNP, SCALE, ORIGEN, COMSOL. You will prepare technical reports and brief senior leadership on findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI polygraph clearance and U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master's with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with nuclear weapons supply chains, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong background in physics-based simulations and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or C++.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-fidelity reverse-engineering analyses and vulnerability assessments of facilities, stockpiles, supply chains, and production processes.
  • Develop protective design criteria using physics-based models addressing radiation effects and shielding.
  • Utilize multiphysics modeling to evaluate degradation of facilities and processes exposed to weapons effects.
  • Prepare technical reports and executive-level briefings on foreign capabilities, vulnerabilities, and methodologies.
  • Brief senior leadership and stakeholders on findings and recommendations.
