Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions is seeking an Advanced Automation Engineer to serve as the main technical interface with customers on HSIO Overpass cable automation. You will understand automation requirements, address installation challenges, and drive practical engineering solutions with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, leading technical discussions, and delivering data-driven improvements in automation performance, throughput, and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automation, or related field.
• 5+ years in automation, manufacturing, process, or equipment engineering.
• Strong troubleshooting of automated manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics and control diagrams.
• Experience with design for manufacturability and automation principles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary customer-facing technical resource for automation and installation.
• Lead discussions with customers to identify automation opportunities and risks.
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for automation issues.
• Develop data-driven solutions to improve cycle time, yield, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product development, NPI, process engineering, and operations.
• Support on-site trials, proofs-of-concept, and production launch.
• Translate customer requirements into internal engineering and design needs.
