Job summary

The OpenAI Foundation seeks an Accounting Manager to lead nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and the annual audit coordination. This hands-on role owns the close process and supports transparent stewardship of charitable resources.

You will own grant accounting, Form 990 preparation, and reporting to the Global Corporate Controller, while guiding colleagues and driving improvements in systems and processes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting or audit experience, nonprofit focus.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP for nonprofit orgs.
• Experience with grantmaking and restricted contributions.
• CPA qualification preferred.
• Ability to communicate complex accounting judgments clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead nonprofit accounting, grant accounting, and net asset classifications.
• Own the annual close, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Coordinate the Form 990 preparation with external advisers.
• Oversee audit coordination with internal teams and external auditors.
• Strengthen controls and automate workflows using AI-enabled tools.
