OpenAI Foundation seeks an Accountant or Senior Accountant to support nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, annual audit, and Form 990 preparation. You will manage the monthly close, maintain records, and prepare schedules for transparent reporting.

This role reports to the Global Corporate Controller and focuses on grants, charitable activity, and controlled data management. We are open to Accountant or Senior Accountant levels, with opportunities to lead audit coordination, develop

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting or audit experience for Accountant level.
• 6+ years of accounting or audit experience for Senior Accountant level.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP for nonprofit organizations.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and close schedules.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Support an accurate and timely close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain nonprofit accounting records including donor restrictions and net asset classifications.
• Support grant accounting and coordinate with grant operations.
• Track expenses by function and program; prepare allocations per policy.
• Prepare and reconcile audit schedules; assist with Form 990 prep.
• Prepare financial reporting and variance analyses for leadership.
• Strengthen processes and controls; document procedures and automate where appropriate.
