Job summary

United Way of New York City (UWNYC) seeks a Senior Accountant to ensure accurate financial transactions and compliance. You will manage general ledger maintenance, payroll processing, reconciliations, revenue recognition, and audit support in a fast-paced nonprofit finance team.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Accounting with CPA preferred and 6+ years in accounting; experience in nonprofit reporting and Form 990 is highly valued. Hybrid work schedule with strong analytical acumen expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• CPA is preferred for eligibility.
• Minimum of six years of relevant accounting experience; nonprofit experience favored.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger, prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
• Manage semi-monthly payroll processing with HR and payroll provider.
• Oversee accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and fundraising revenue.
• Handle year-end close, audit support and Form 990 documentation.
• Prepare financial statements and custom reports; support accounts payable and payroll backup.
