Job summary

Atlanta Beltline, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in Atlanta, GA. This role manages month-end close, grants accounting, and financial reporting to ensure compliance with nonprofit standards and donor requirements.

Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, you will support budgeting, forecasting, and audits, while fostering financial stewardship across departments and partners in a dynamic, mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Master's degree, CPA, or other certification preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• At least three years nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with grant accounting and donor-funded activities required.
• Experience supporting annual audits and Form 990 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing, journal entries, reconciliations and analyses.
• Maintain the general ledger and proper classification of transactions.
• Manage grants, contributions, sponsorships and restricted/unrestricted funds.
• Monitor grant revenues and expenditures for donor restrictions.
• Prepare grant reimbursement requests and financial reports for funders.
• Support annual financial statement audits and Form 990 preparation.
• Assist with budget development, forecasting and reporting.
• Evaluate improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
• Provide accounting guidance to program managers on grant compliance.
