Job summary

EMR is seeking an experienced Non-Ferrous Buyer to join our commercial team in the US Midwest. This hands-on role sources and procures aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, and specialty alloys while managing price volatility and supplier relationships to protect margins.

The territory includes Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New Jersey with minimal travel; compensation is $140-160k per year. The ideal candidate has 5+ years buying non-ferrous metals, strong negotiation skills, and

Qualifications

5+ years buying non-ferrous metals in recycling, trading, or commodities.
Knowledge of aluminum, copper, brass, stainless and specialty alloys.
Strong grading, specifications and recovery yields understanding.
Decisive in fast-moving markets with strong negotiation skills.
High ethical standards and compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

Monitor market and price movements for aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, and specialty alloys.
Adjust buying strategies based on volatility, demand, and export opportunities.
Source non-ferrous scrap from diverse suppliers including industrial accounts and yards.
Negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and delivery to maximize margins.
Develop relationships with new suppliers to expand the regional supply base.
Maintain strong supplier relationships to secure reliable quality material.
Conduct supplier site visits to assess operations and material quality.
Coordinate with internal teams on material flow and purchasing decisions.
