Job summary

Flutter International plc is seeking a Senior Node.js Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services powering our Martech stack. You will work with Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript in a microservices architecture, owning technical decisions and mentoring teammates across Frontend, DevOps, QA, and Product groups.

This role emphasizes performance, security, and reliability with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD, in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend development with Node.js.
• Strong, hands-on experience with NestJS and TypeScript in production.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of authentication/authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth).
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Event-driven architecture understanding; experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services in production.
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerized workloads.
• Understanding of CI/CD processes and automation.
• Familiarity with system design principles and patterns.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving.
• Ownership and accountability from design to production.
• Strong communication and mentoring mindset.
• Proactive in continuous improvement and cross-team collaboration.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with English (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.
• Build and operate microservices with clear boundaries and contracts.
• Design RESTful APIs and inter-service communication.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and solution design.
• Integrate with external APIs and third-party platforms.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and security of backends.
• Work with AWS and cloud-native services.
• Develop containerized apps with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve observability.
• Collaborate with Frontend, DevOps, QA, and Product.
• Mentor junior and mid engineers and promote best practices.
• Communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement and tackle blockers proactively.
