Job summary

Rooms To Go is seeking a backend software developer to design and scale Node.js services and APIs for our eCommerce platform. You will work with React front-end teams and ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance systems.

The role emphasizes practical use of AI tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and support troubleshooting, while maintaining strong engineering judgment and secure coding practices. Collaboration with data teams is also expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend Node.js development experience.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills and experience building scalable APIs.
• Experience with MERN stack development and collab with React front-end teams.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (design, queries, indexing, performance tuning).
• Experience building and integrating services in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Working knowledge of security practices for web apps and APIs (OAuth/JWT, OWASP concepts).
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.
• Comfortable in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proven experience using AI-assisted development tools in daily work.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale high-performance backend services and APIs powering core eCommerce workflows.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to improve end-to-end performance and UX.
• Implement security best practices including authentication/authorization and data protection.
• Write clean, testable code with observability and production readiness.
• Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery, while reviewing AI output for correctness and security.
• Apply secure usage practices for AI tools and avoid exposing sensitive data.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and participate in on-call support.
• Support ETL/data pipelines and analytics-backed backend integrations.
