Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Node) in the United States for a fully remote role focused on backend leadership.

You will own architectural design and build scalable, secure APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and Next.js, guiding a Node.js sub-team and collaborating with frontend/mobile teams. You will mentor engineers, implement production-grade services, and drive performance optimization, testing, and CI/CD in a regulated healthcare technology environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• 7+ years of backend software development experience with a focus on backend engineering.
• Deep expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and Next.js API routes; production-grade services & APIs.
• Strong experience with relational and document databases.
• Cloud deployment experience; Azure preferred.
• 10+ years in backend or full-stack development preferred.
• Healthcare tech or regulated industry exposure.
• Familiarity with HL7 FHIR, X12, NCPDP; data integration & API design.
• Experience with real-time systems, WebSockets, event-driven architectures, GraphQL/tRPC, monorepos.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture and system design for scalable services.
• Document architectural decisions for stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain backend features with Node.js/TypeScript and Next.js.
• Build API routes and services, including auth, caching, messaging, and data access.
• Deliver stable interfaces for frontend/mobile teams.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership to the Node.js sub-team.
• Own performance optimization, testing strategies, and CI/CD governance.
• Ensure security, availability, and HIPAA compliance.
