Job summary

Baylor Genetics is seeking a Senior Scientist in NGS Algorithm Development to lead design, optimization, and implementation of computational algorithms for diverse NGS data. You will detect and interpret complex genomic features and drive targeted panel design for new products.

The role requires a Ph.D. in a related field and at least 5 years of hands-on NGS algorithm experience, with expertise in Python, R, C++, and workflow orchestration.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in NGS algorithm development.
• Proficiency in Python, R, C++, and workflow orchestration tools.
• Understanding of read alignment and variant calling tools (e.g., BWA-MEM, minimap2, GATK, DeepVariant).
• Experience with long-read technologies (ON T, PacBio) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, optimization, and implementation of scalable NGS algorithms and pipelines for detection and interpretation of complex genomic features.
• Lead the design and optimization of targeted NGS panels for existing and new products.
• Drive end-to-end development, validation, benchmarking, and integration of NGS pipelines using truth sets.
