Job summary

NHPR in Concord, NH is seeking a Senior News Editor to shape journalism strategy online and on air. You will lead a small reporter team, coordinate with the VP of News, and steer By Degrees climate coverage toward in-depth, solutions-focused storytelling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of journalism experience
• Editing experience strongly preferred
• Experience in climate/environment beat preferred
• Comfort working in a digital newsroom
• Ability to manage reporters in a hybrid environment
• Excellent organizational and multi-project management skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to write quickly for broadcast
• Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
• Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Plan NHPR's daily and long-term coverage with the VP of News
• Edit and shepherd reporters to publication
• Oversee the daily news desk for broadcast and online content
• Ensure journalism meets high ethical standards
• Act as a public-facing representative of the newsroom
• Participate in on-air fundraising when needed
• Pitch and manage special projects with newsroom teams
• Collaborate with NHPR's audience team to broaden reach
