Job summary

Framatome in Lynchburg, Virginia is seeking an experienced nuclear engineer to perform complex design, analysis, and testing tasks across PWR/BWR core design and related nuclear analyses. You will independently review analyses, propose solutions, and ensure compliance with regulations and engineering standards while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 7+ years of related experience, and proficiency in FORTRAN/C/C++/Python.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in pressurized water reactor (PWR) or boiling water reactor (BWR) core design and/or nuclear analysis experience.
• Experience with computer model development and application (ANC, SCALE, CASMO, SIMULATE, or other nuclear industry analysis code).
• Familiarity with engineering workstation computers and LINUX environments.
• Programming capabilities in FORTRAN, C/C++, or PYTHON.
• Displays leadership and collaborative teamwork across project groups.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex engineering assignments in design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, and field tasks.
• Independently review department work products and analyses using established methods.
• Propose solutions and work scope to supervisor and execute autonomously where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and engineering standards.
• Select and apply technical methods and criteria for novel tasks.
• Develop new or adapted products or methods to deliver value to customers.
• Understand the impact of work on other teams and stakeholders.
• Work on special projects and contribute to process improvements.
