Job summary

Crusoe Energy Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable control plane tooling for Crusoe Cloud, spanning edge, backbone, and data center operations. You will design and implement distributed systems that manage network state and enable reliable deployment and monitoring across diverse environments.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years building backend systems, deep networking knowledge, and strong mentoring skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, building backend systems in production.
• Experience with networking software, protocols, or control plane systems (e.g., routing, switching, BGP, SDN).
• Experience at a cloud provider, hyperscaler, or large scale data center operator.
• Familiarity with network telemetry/management protocols such as gNMI, gRPC, or NETCONF.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Go, Rust, C++, Java, or Python.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tooling (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction.
• Track record of designing and building scalable, reliable APIs or services used by multiple teams.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop network state management systems for Crusoe Cloud and tooling to deploy, monitor, and maintain the network at scale.
• Scale control plane systems to handle growing device counts and infrastructure complexity.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high standards through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Partner with product to decide build vs buy for control plane software, balancing cost and speed.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and other teams to align with Crusoe Cloud’s growth needs.
• Design fault-tolerant, distributed control planes with high availability and resilience.
• Advocate for CI/CD and IaC practices to improve velocity and reliability.
