Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to support a DoD environment on-site at Pearl Harbor, HI with alternate locations Whidbey Island, WA or Norfolk, VA. The Systems Engineer will be a senior technical resource for network engineering, Tier III troubleshooting, configuration management, and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise network engineering and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with LAN/WAN/WLAN, routing, switching, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, and security technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting, change management, and root cause analysis skills; Agile/SAFe, JIRA.
• Bachelor's degree with 8–12 years or Master's with 6–10 years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret eligibility.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level III cert (CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent).
• Network vendor certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE.

Responsibilities

• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex enterprise network issues across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and network boundaries.
• Configure, maintain, and support routers, switches, wireless APs, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, SD-WAN, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, and related protocols.
• Serve as a Tier III escalation SME for large-scale enterprise network operations and engineering teams.
• Develop Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs), RCA, manage change requests, and support configuration management.
• Conduct lab validation and pre-production testing of firmware upgrades and security patches with cybersecurity in mind.
