Job summary

Vox Media is seeking a Network & Systems Engineer to own the design, operation, and evolution of its enterprise office network, studios, and production facilities in Lower Manhattan. This hands-on role requires Juniper infrastructure expertise, Cato SASE/SD-WAN management, and cross‑functional collaboration across IT teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in network and infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on production experience with Juniper networking technologies and Junos.
• Relevant networking certifications such as JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP, CCNA, or CCNP.
• Experience with Cisco and/or Meraki and the ability to evaluate platforms by merit.
• Deep understanding of enterprise TCP/IP networking, L2/L3 switching and routing.
• Strong troubleshooting using monitoring, logging, and packet capture tools.
• AWS networking experience including VPCs, routing, VPNs, and cloud connectivity.
• Systems administration or broader infrastructure engineering experience.
• Ability to own technical projects from design through operations and document progress.
• Willingness to onsite in Lower Manhattan up to 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Vox Media's enterprise network across offices, data centers, cloud environments, and remote connectivity.
• Serve as the senior technical resource for Juniper networking, including configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Administer Cato Networks SASE platform, including SD-WAN connectivity and secure remote access.
• Define future network architecture and evaluate migrations to Cisco/Meraki when appropriate.
• Design and support LAN, WAN, wireless, and internet connectivity across locations.
• Configure VLANs, routing, switching, STP, ACLs, NAT, DHCP, DNS and related services; support BGP/OSPF as applicable.
• Troubleshoot complex Layer 2/Layer 3 issues with root-cause analysis.
• Monitor network availability, performance, capacity, and reliability; proactively address issues.
• Plan upgrades, migrations, and office infrastructure projects with minimal disruption.
• Manage vendor relationships, renewals, and capacity planning.
