Job summary

VIcom in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Network Solutions Engineer to design and deploy advanced network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions and provide post-deployment support.

The role requires hands-on experience with WAN/LAN, firewall, VPN, and security configurations, along with VMware and Office 365 integration.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of network system administration, project implementation and general IT experience.
• Experience with switching, wireless and firewall solutions from Extreme, Fortinet.
• Advanced knowledge of network security and best practices.
• Professional IT Certifications, such as: Network+, Security+, CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft etc.
• Experience with Voice over IP with SIP Trunking a plus.
• Interpersonal and troubleshooting skills; ability to multi-task.
• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver network infrastructure solutions that are technically sound and aligned with customer requirements.
• Perform analysis and recommendations on legacy network design, installation, and modernization opportunities.
• Assist in evaluating new network hardware, software, and technologies for applicability and compatibility.
• Design and support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft solutions, plus disaster recovery.
• Support structured cabling design including racks, MDFs, jacks, and related documentation.
• Conduct onsite visits and discovery to evaluate and optimize network hardware and configurations.
• Maintain and develop relationships with vendors and internal teams to support delivery.
• Provide technical evaluation for WAN/LAN connectivity, routing, switching, firewalls, and security configurations.
