Job summary

TECKpert is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to support a state government agency in Tallahassee, FL. You will own firewall, VPN, and network security infrastructure, administer Palo Alto and Check Point devices, and design secure segmentation across on‑premises and cloud environments.

The role requires hands-on NGFW experience, cloud security, and the ability to mentor other staff. Onsite work Mon-Fri is expected in Tallahassee, with a competitive contract rate up to 85 USD/hr or

Qualifications

• 5–10 years IT and information security experience.
• Hands-on NGFW experience with Palo Alto or Check Point.
• VPN technologies including GlobalProtect.
• Experience with cloud security and network segmentation.
• Ability to diagram networks with Visio.

Responsibilities

• Configure and document firewall rules across Palo Alto, Check Point, and GlobalProtect.
• Lead firewall deployments and policy migrations between platforms.
• Administer core security infrastructure including NGFWs and VPNs.
• Design network segmentation and secure cloud access policies.
• Monitor incidents, perform root cause analysis, and report metrics.
