Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Principal Network Security Engineer to design, engineer, and implement enterprise network security across a large distributed environment. The role leads a team of engineers, develops security architecture, and coordinates with government and technical leadership to advance zero-trust and segmentation strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 12+ years preferred
• Significant experience designing and implementing network security architecture in large-scale environments
• Senior technical lead experience directing engineers, admins, analysts or implementation resources
• Experience leading security projects from planning through implementation and operational transition
• Hands-on engineering with NGFWs, IDS/IPS, proxies and TLS inspection, VPN and encryption services
• Knowledge of data-flow, segmentation design, firewall rules, ACLs, routing, and security policy coordination
• Active DoD Secret or equivalent security clearance is often required

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and implement enterprise network security architecture across distributed environments
• Lead security engineering projects from concept through implementation; develop plans, schedules, and contingency steps
• Coordinate change windows, maintenance, testing, and rollback procedures for high-impact changes
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network and security engineers, administrators, and analysts
• Document security architectures, plans, risk assessments, and accreditation artifacts
• Support compliance activities and accreditation efforts with required artifacts
