Overview
GTN is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a Network and Security Platform Management team responsible for a global network footprint spanning office, data center, and co-location environments.
This role focuses on ensuring performance, scalability, and resilience across large-scale data center networks supporting complex compute, research, and high-performance infrastructure workloads. The Senior Network Engineer will play a key role in implementing modern networking solutions, driving automation, improving reliability, and supporting highly available infrastructure in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data center networking, strong hands-on experience with Cisco and Arista technologies, and a passion for automation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Network Engineering & Operations
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, resilient data center network infrastructure
- Support enterprise, data center, and co-location environments across routing, switching, firewall, and WAN domains
- Lead troubleshooting and break/fix efforts for complex network issues across global infrastructure
- Support highly available network environments where uptime, performance, and operational discipline are critical
- Implement and manage data center network architectures leveraging EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, and modern routing protocols
- Support WAN environments including SD-WAN, segment routing, and multitenant network designs
- Work hands-on with Cisco and Arista platforms across IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, and EOS
- Contribute to network design reviews, standards, documentation, and architecture improvements
Automation & DevOps
- Automate network operations using tools such as Python, Ansible, Git, and Jinja2
- Support Infrastructure-as-Code practices and CI/CD pipelines for network provisioning and configuration management
- Improve operational efficiency through automation, tooling, repeatable processes, and documentation
- Partner with engineering teams to reduce manual work and improve network deployment consistency
Monitoring, Performance & Reliability
- Monitor and proactively manage network health using telemetry and observability platforms
- Perform packet analysis, performance tuning, and root cause analysis for network issues
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal standards, operational procedures, and best practices
- Identify reliability gaps and help drive improvements across performance, resiliency, and scalability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Data Center, Security, DevOps, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to align on network architecture and operations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality designs and support rollout of strategic initiatives
- Support large-scale compute environments, including HPC infrastructure where applicable
- Communicate technical issues clearly to both engineering and operational stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing across the team
- Act as a technical leader during incident response and critical troubleshooting scenarios
- Help establish standards, best practices, and repeatable processes for network operations and engineering
Required Experience
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale enterprise or data center networks
- Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco and Arista networking platforms, including IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, and EOS
- Deep understanding of routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN, and MPLS
- Experience supporting WAN technologies including SD-WAN, segment routing, and multitenant environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including packet analysis, performance optimization, and root cause analysis
- Experience working in Agile, DevOps-oriented, or infrastructure automation environments
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, mission-critical environments
Technical Skills
- Network automation experience using Python, Ansible, Jinja2, and Git
- Experience with network monitoring, telemetry, and observability platforms
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices
- Strong understanding of data center networking, routing, switching, WAN, and network reliability principles
