Job summary

DataOne in Vineland, New Jersey, is hiring a Senior Network Operations Technician to support our 24/7 data center infrastructure. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain production network assets including switches, routers, firewalls, and fiber components.

As a senior member, you’ll mentor junior technicians, improve procedures, and coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure reliability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in network operations, network infrastructure, data center operations, or a related technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet networking and the TCP/IP protocol suite.
  • Working knowledge of VLANs, 802.1Q trunking, STP/RSTP, link aggregation, routing, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise switches, routers, network appliances, and physical network connectivity.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber‑optic and copper cabling, including structured cabling, patch panels, cross‑connects, and carrier circuits.
  • Experience using network monitoring and troubleshooting tools to diagnose connectivity, performance, and infrastructure issues.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, rack elevations, circuit documentation, and technical procedures.
  • Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change‑management processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and infrastructure issues in a mission‑critical environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, operational discipline, and ability to work effectively across technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain production data center network infrastructure.
  • Perform Layer 1, Layer 2, and basic Layer 3 troubleshooting across connectivity, VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, routing, packet loss, latency, and interface issues.
  • Install, configure, replace, and validate network equipment and perform rack‑and‑stack, patching, labeling, and cable‑management activities.
  • Support copper, single‑mode, and multimode fiber infrastructure, including cross‑connects, fiber troubleshooting, cleaning, inspection, and basic testing.
  • Respond to network incidents, outages, and degraded services, escalating as needed.
  • Coordinate carrier circuit installations, turn‑ups, testing, troubleshooting, and network handoffs.
  • Support network deployments, migrations, upgrades, capacity expansions, maintenance windows, and lifecycle replacement projects.
  • Perform remote‑hands and smart‑hands activities, including equipment installation, removal, relocation, and hardware replacement.
  • Maintain network diagrams, port assignments, rack elevations, circuit records, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and other documentation.
  • Mentor junior Network Operations Technicians and provide technical guidance during troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

About the Job

DataOne is hiring a Senior Network Operations Technician to support the network and technical infrastructure within our 24/7 mission-critical data center in Vineland, New Jersey.

In this role, you’ll provide advanced hands-on support for network connectivity, enterprise network equipment, carrier services, fiber-optic and copper infrastructure, structured cabling, CCTV, access control, and associated data center systems. You’ll troubleshoot network incidents, support infrastructure deployments and maintenance, and work closely with Network Engineering, telecommunications carriers, vendors, Facilities, Security, and other technical teams.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also provide technical guidance to junior Network Operations Technicians and help improve network procedures, documentation, and technical standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain production data center network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, network appliances, and optical equipment.
  • Perform Layer 1, Layer 2, and basic Layer 3 troubleshooting across connectivity, VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, routing, packet loss, latency, and interface issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large‑scale or high‑availability data center environments.
  • Experience with Juniper Networks equipment or comparable enterprise networking platforms.
  • Experience with optical networking, transceivers, fiber testing, and optical power measurement.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring, Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), ticketing, and configuration‑management systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, ITIL, and formal change‑management practices.
  • CCNA, CCNP, Network+, BICSI, or another relevant industry certification.
  • Experience with Alpeta Access Control Application or Milestone Enterprise VMS.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
What to Expect
  • Full‑time, on‑site work within a 24/7 mission‑critical data center in Vineland, New Jersey.
  • Regular work within data halls, network rooms, equipment areas, and other operational areas of the facility.
  • Participation in maintenance windows, emergency restoration activities, an on‑call rotation, and after‑hours incident response may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, climb ladders, work within and around equipment racks, safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and work in data center environments with varying noise levels and temperatures while wearing required PPE.
