Senior Network Operations Engineer (Remote - U.S.)
Location: Remote
Travel Required: Yes — to remote sites across North America as needed
Reports To: COO
Must be a U.S Citizen/Green Card Holder as we do not sponsor
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Senior Network Operations Engineer to
architect, operate, and scale the distributed network that supports our rapidly growing portfolio
of bitcoin mining and high-density data center infrastructure. Our sites span remote and rural
locations across North America and are designed to support hundreds of thousands of
In this role, you will take full technical ownership of the network—from fiber design and switch
deployment to routing optimization, server configuration, and fail over design. You will be
responsible for maintaining uptime, enabling remote monitoring and access, and ensuring the
network can scale rapidly with minimal manual overhead. You’ll also be expected to support
new site turn-ups, respond to outages, and develop and document resilient practices that
reduce our time to recovery when failures occur.
This is a remote-first position based in the U.S., with frequent travel to sites during deployments,
expansion, and critical troubleshooting. Candidates in Texas or Florida are preferred due to
proximity to primary sites, but all U.S. locations will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Reliability
● Operate and maintain a highly distributed network supporting over 100,000 devices,
spanning numerous industrial sites in remote regions
● Perform advanced troubleshooting of hardware, routing, cabling, and software-related
issues in complex multi-vendor environments
● Monitor and tune network performance to meet low-latency, high-throughput application
needs
● Build tools and dashboards to detect, isolate, and resolve incidents before they impact
operations
● Define and execute processes for equipment staging, shipping, installation, labeling, and
reconfiguration to minimize onsite time and errors
Infrastructure Design & Buildout
● Plan and implement full-stack network solutions at new sites—including physical layout,
switch topology, conduit paths, IDF/MDF separation, and site-wide fiber and copper runs
● Work closely with construction and site engineers to coordinate trenching, conduit
installation, and network gear placement
● Source and configure internet access for sites where traditional ISP options are
unavailable, including working directly with rural co-ops, wireless ISPs, and LTE/satellite
providers (e.g., Starlink)
● Design and implement wireless and inter-rack mesh solutions for temporary or hard-to-
cable areas
Resilience, Provisioning & Uptime Strategy
● Build dynamic provisioning systems for switches and routers to ensure rapid deployment
and seamless hardware replacement
● Implement repeatable configuration templates, remote provisioning, and zero-touch
deployment methodologies
● Design networks to be fault-tolerant in constrained environments, optimizing for service
restoration where full redundancy is not possible
● Develop playbooks for rapid recovery from hardware failure, outages, and environmental
Routing, Security & Monitoring
● Configure and maintain routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and static policies for
segmented site and backbone architecture
● Design and enforce network segmentation, VLAN policies, NAT/firewall rules, and
bandwidth shaping as needed for secure operations
● Administer secure remote access via VPNs, port forwarding, and remote desktop
gateways
● Implement centralized logging, telemetry, SNMP traps, syslog forwarding, and alerting
systems across network and server infrastructure
System Administration & Automation
● Maintain Linux-based systems that handle core services including ISC DHCPd, DNS,
TFTP, VPN, proxy, and syslog
● Write and maintain Python scripts and shell tools for provisioning, monitoring, log
analysis, inventory sync, and failover routines
● Assist in integrating network telemetry with backend monitoring tools such as
Prometheus, Grafana, or custom alerting stacks
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for every site, including IP addressing
schemes, routing maps, wiring diagrams, device inventories, rack layouts, and change
history
● Work closely with internal teams—including construction, energy, legal, and executive
stakeholders—during site evaluation and acquisition phases to assess connectivity
feasibility
● Participate in after-hours on-call rotations and lead incident response efforts during
outages or infrastructure upgrades
What We’re Looking For
● 7+ years of experience managing complex network environments, including direct
operational responsibility for uptime, security, and troubleshooting
● Extensive hands-on experience with Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls (Junos OS),
including device hardening and automation
● Experience with Ubiquiti networking platforms and other industrial-grade switches and
access points
● Strong working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, DHCP, VLANs, DNS, NAT, and SNMP in
distributed network environments
● Proficient in Linux system administration (Debian/Ubuntu preferred), including service
configuration, scripting, and log analysis
● Skilled in Python for creating automation tools, templated configs, or health monitors
● Strong experience with fiber infrastructure and the physical layer—able to evaluate
OTDR reports, plan splice enclosures, and work with field crews
● Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote and rural locations for site buildout,
maintenance, and troubleshooting
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to document systems and
communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
● Networking certifications (e.g., JNCIA, JNCIS, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA)
● Experience with monitoring stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or industrial
SCADA systems
● Exposure to container-based environments or edge compute platforms
● Background in bitcoin mining, high-throughput compute infrastructure, or large-scale
data center operations
● Familiarity with network segmentation for energy infrastructure, OT/IT convergence, and
cybersecurity best practices
Why Join Us?
● Own and operate the critical network infrastructure that powers one of the most
technically advanced bitcoin mining platforms in North America
● Work directly with executive leadership in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment
● Join a lean, engineering-led organization with minimal red tape and maximum
accountability
● Solve real-world challenges at scale, from remote connectivity and high-speed routing to
fault recovery and power-aware provisioning
● Enjoy a flexible remote work setup with travel to hands-on, high-impact field projects
