Job summary

Gotham Technology Group in Midtown, New York, NY Is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to lead day-to-day management of the firm's multi-site network infrastructure. You will maintain, upgrade, and optimize the network while collaborating with Information Security, Systems, and Helpdesk teams.

The role requires hands-on Cisco expertise, proficiency with SolarWinds and Wireshark, and knowledge of routing, switching, ACLs, VXLAN, and VoIP.

Qualifications

  • Work closely with the InfoSec team on all network-based security initiatives.

Job description

Location: Midtown, New York, NY (Onsite 4 days/week)

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Operations Engineer to lead the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of our clients multi-site network infrastructure responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing the firm's network environment.

This role requires close collaboration with Information Security, Systems, and Helpdesk teams to ensure all networking requirements for firm-wide initiatives are fully supported. Strong, hands-on expertise with Cisco technologies is essential, as is experience with network management tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, etc

While the current environment is predominantly Cisco-based, a strong foundational knowledge of broader network routing and switching protocols, and emerging multi-vendor solutions is critical as the firm evolves toward a more hybrid infrastructure.

Key Experience and Skills Required

  • Hands-on experience supporting Cisco/network infrastructure
  • In-depth knowledge of networking landscape, routing and switching protocols, ACLs, 802.1x, network and performance management tools, VoIP, and VXLAN.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and autonomous problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team environment, think on your feet, and openly share knowledge to strengthen overall team capability.
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with team members and end users alike.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document systems and procedures clearly.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and requirements.
  • Cisco certifications are a plus, as is hands-on experience with Cisco DCNM / NDFC.
