Job summary

Meta’s LTD team designs the physical infrastructure for a rapidly scaling IP and optical backbone. We seek a network engineer to own Inside Plant and Outside Plant designs for Backbone POPs and ILA huts, coordinating with network, deployment, and sourcing teams.

Responsibilities include producing rack layouts, power requirements, fiber counts, and splice plans, plus maintaining design standards and vendor engagement for scalable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years designing physical infrastructure or fiber-optic infrastructure (OSP/ISP) in telecom or hyperscale environments.
• Strong knowledge of fiber fundamentals and optical testing basics.
• Ability to translate network topology into physical designs and layouts.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, engineer and implement scalable physical infrastructure for backbone POPs and ILA sites.
• Translate IP/optical topology into rack layouts, power, fiber counts, and patch schedules.
• Own site design standards and refresh them as topology evolves.
• Produce material forecasts and BOMs for manufacturers.
• Engage with vendors and shelter manufacturers on components and supply.
• Produce engineering documentation and present in cross-functional reviews.
• Support design-automation/tools for BOMs and rack modeling.
• Guide site sourcing strategy and review low-level design migrations.
