Job summary

Meta’s LTD team seeks a network engineer to own Inside Plant and Outside Plant designs for backbone POPs and ILA huts. You will architect scalable physical infrastructure, including structured cabling, fiber trunks, racks, and power layouts, collaborating with IP/topology teams and vendors.

You will translate abstract designs into build-ready plans, produce BOMs, and contribute to design standards while leveraging automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical field.
• 10+ years designing physical infrastructure in hyperscale environments.
• Deep knowledge of fiber fundamentals, splicing, and optical budgets.
• Ability to translate network designs into physical build plans and rack layouts.
• Experience with vendor engagement and BOM creation.
• Familiarity with Python for design automation and GIS/route data usage.
• Awareness of AI tools to optimize workflows and ensure quality.

Responsibilities

• Architect and engineer scalable physical infra for backbone POPs and ILA huts.
• Translate topology into rack space, power, fiber counts, and patch plans.
• Develop site design standards and refresh as hardware evolves.
• Produce material forecasts and BOMs for manufacturers.
• Engage with vendors and shelter manufacturers on components and harness design.
• Create engineering docs and participate in cross-functional reviews.
• Support design-automation tooling for BOMs and fiber/plants modeling.
• Guide site sourcing and delivery teams with migration plans.
